Charlene V. Harlin, 50, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 2:50 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2006, in Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, IN. She was born on April 25, 1955, in South Bend, to Robert N. and Lydia M.(Wickizer) Harlin.

Charlene is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Tom Clements) Berning of Indianapolis, IN; a son, Richard Berning III of Muncie, IN; her mother, Lydia M. Harlin of South Bend; two sisters, Laura Pangrac of Texas and Carolyn Schori of Mishawaka; a brother, Rod (Cyndi) Harlin of Oregon. Four nieces and one nephew also survive her.

Her father, Robert N. Harlin, preceded her in death.

Charlene was a graduate of Riley High School, South Bend. She moved to Batesville, Indiana, in 1981.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2006, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Dave Johnston, pastor of St. John United Church of Christ, Batesville, IN, will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, February 26, 2006, in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Charlene V. Harlin may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
