In Memory
Barbara Ann (Voynovich) Chevrie
December 25, 1945 ~ July 10, 2025 (age 79)
Barbara “Barb” Ann Chevrie, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
Born on Christmas Day in 1945 in South Bend, Barb brought warmth, joy, and a little sparkle to everyone she met. She was the daughter of Peter and Phyllis (Miller) Voynovich, who, along with her brother Michael, preceded her in death.
On August 20, 1971, Barb married the love of her life, Wayne T. Chevrie Jr. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and family. Wayne survives her, along with their three children: Lori Chevrie, Karla Chevrie, and Nicholas (Danielle) Chevrie. Barb is also lovingly remembered by Angela David, who held a special place in her heart. Barb was especially proud to be “Grandma” to her cherished granddaughter, Kendall Nicole Chevrie, who brought her endless joy.
Barb had a true gift for making things grow—whether it was the flowers in her garden or the deep, lasting connections she formed with those around her. She loved being outside, tending to her plants, and hosting family and friends for meals, celebrations, or just a good chat. She was a devoted fan of Notre Dame Football and Women’s Basketball and never missed a chance to cheer them on.
More than anything, Barb loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. Her kindness, sense of humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life open house will be held on July 26th at the family home: 20195 Ritter Ave., South Bend, IN. beginning at 2:00pm.
