Edward Michael “Mike” Plant went home to be with his Heavenly Father on July 12th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in South Bend, Indiana on March 19, 1944 to Edward Joseph and Sylvia Ann Shafer Plant.  He graduated from Riley High School and attended Bliss School of Business in Columbus, Ohio.  He married Carol Clay in 1973.

He came to Crawfordsville in 1968 as the manager of Indiana Bell Telephone Company before joining Ingress Plastene, where he worked as Vice President of sales and marketing, before retiring after 26 years of service.

He chaired and served the committee for Adult Day Services.  He was a mentor for students at the start of the mentoring program at Hoover.  He served on the investment committee for the Montgomery County Community Foundation.  Mike was an active member of his church in both Crawfordsville, Indiana and Bradenton, Florida, serving on church council, call committees and as an elder.  He walked the path of faith through an Emmaus Walk and later participated as a helper and speaker.

He was an avid tennis player and golfer.  He liked wintering in Bradenton, where he enjoyed working as a starter at Ironwood Golf Course.  He loved connecting with people and sharing a laugh, a drink, and maybe a magic trick or two.  He loved music and when in Bradenton, he could be found on Wednesday nights singing karaoke at the American Legion.

Mike is survived by: his wife, Carol; sister, Patty (Ron) Alford of Mishawaka, Indiana; daughters, Jennifer (Greg) Sayers of Bloomington, Indiana, Erin (Andrew) Stott of Burlington, Iowa; son, Michael Plant of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, Zion, Devan, Jaxon, Eli, Nia, Ryan, Ian and Hannah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Paula King and granddaughter, Makynna Stott.

Visitation is 3 to 5 PM Friday, July 18, 2025 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1414 East Wabash Avenue, Crawfordsville.                Services will follow the visitation at 5 PM.  A local celebration of life will be held August 2nd from 3 to 6 PM at the Crawfordsville Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Plant Family Fund at Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF) for the benefit of the Montgomery County Community Foundation at MCCF, P.O. Box 334, Crawfordsville, IN 47933 or to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1414 E. Wabash Ave., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
