Georgette I. Harding

Georgette I. Harding, 94, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025. She was born on May 18, 1931, in South Bend to the late Karel VanGoey and Alphonsine (Felix) VanGoey. On April 18, 1959, Georgette married the love of her life, Edward E. Harding, in South Bend. They shared 34 wonderful years together until his passing on July 29, 1993. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Georgette’s ultimate joy was her family. She is survived by her four children: Jacqueline (Joseph) Hilliard of Elkhart, IN; Michelle Rollings of Plainfield, IN; Chantelle Snyder of South Bend, IN; and Brett (Karen) Harding of Cape Coral, FL. She is also lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren: Emily Hilliard (Jesse Montgomery) of Berea, KY, Grant (Emily) Hilliard of Fort Wayne, IN; Seth Rollings of Seattle, WA; Brock Harding (Casey) of Fort Meyers, FL; Kyle (Stephanie) Harding of Cape Coral, FL; and Jordan (Ericka) Hrkach of Hollister, California, and eight great-grandchildren. Georgette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; her son, John Harding; her brothers, George VanGoey and John VanGoey; and her son in law Richard Snyder. While raising their family, Georgette and Ed resided in North Liberty, Indiana. Georgette relocated to South Bend in her later years. Georgette was a faithful member of St. Matthew Cathedral. She treasured her Belgian and French heritage and was an active member of the Flemish American Genealogical Society, contributing research that was published in the Flemish American Heritage Magazine. She was deeply proud of her roots and equally proud of the family she built. In accordance with her wishes, Georgette will be cremated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St, South Bend, Indiana. She will be laid to rest at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Matthew Cathedral. Georgette’s legacy of love, devotion, and curiosity for family history will live on in all who knew and cherished her. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the dedicated caregivers of Carol's Care Cottage, North Woods Memory Care, and Paradigm Health Hospice.
