April 1, 1945 ~ July 22, 2026 (age 81)

Judith M. Murphy, 81 years old, passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Judy was born on April 1, 1945 in South Bend to the late Donald and Marie (Hurtle) Kryder.  She has remained a lifelong resident of South Bend.  On September 28, 1963 in South Bend, Judy and Dale A. Murphy were united in marriage. 

Along with Dale, her loving husband of 62 years, Judy is survived by their three sons, Doug (Barb) Murphy of South Bend, David (Jennifer) Murphy of Plymouth, and Dennis (Jennifer) Murphy of Bremen; four grandchildren, Michael Murphy, Grace Murphy, Regan (Joshua) Miller and Kylie (Jay) Pixley; and six great grandchildren, Mika Murphy, Cayden Murphy, Sandra Ann Murphy, Richard Murphy, Wyatt Murphy and Liam Lewis.  Judy is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jim Fisher of South Bend. 

Along with her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her great grandson, Atticus Miller, and her sister, Sandy Fisher.

Judy retired from Community Wide Federal Credit Union after 25 years.  She has been a faithful member of Lakeville United Methodist Church, a member of the Methodist Women, sang in the choir and was the director for the Bell choir for 12 years.  Judy was proud to sing at Purdue University with the Homemaker’s Extension group.  Judy and Dale were very active with the St. Joseph County 4-H program.  Judy was a 4-H leader for 50 years, predominantly with rabbit and poultry.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Lakeville United Methodist Church, 610 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville.  Pastor Ed McCutchan will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Judy M. Murphy may be donated to The St. Jospeh County 4-H Scholarship Fund, 5117 S. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN 46614 or to Lakeville United Methodist Church (Music Department), P.O.
