Arthur T. Kopec Sr.

Mar 21, 1928 - May 14, 1988

Arthur T. Kopec Sr., 60, of 919 E. Dayton St., died at 5 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. He was a supervisor of the Food Stamp Division of the St. Joseph County Department of Public Welfare. He was born March 21, 1928, in South Bend and lived in the area all of his life.

On Aug. 25, 1956, he married married Emily J. Tamburini. she survives with two daughters, Jane Bentkowski and Emilia Kopec, both of South Bend; three sons, Michael of Dayton, Ohio, and John and Arthur Jr., both of South Bend; four grandchildren; a sister, Henrietta Atkins of California; and three brothers, Frank of South Bend, Joseph of Michigan and Casimir of Mishawaka. A brother, Norman, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood, where a parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

He was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, where he was a commentator. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1957. He received his master's degree from Indiana University in 1960. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
