In Memory
Ann Patrice (Schwertley) Seeler
Jan. 2, 1929 - Aug. 19, 2013
SOUTH BEND Ann died peacefully in Evanston Hospital following a period of failing health. Ann was born in South Bend to Paul Jerome Schwertley and Helen Rennoe Schwertley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Ernst Seeler in 1998, and younger brother, Jerry from Pasadena, Calif.
Ann is survived by her sister, Mary Prebys of South Bend, nieces, nephews, and dear friends from the U.S. and Germany.
Ann attended James Monroe, South Bend Riley, and received her degree from Saint Mary's College. She also completed her Master's in Theatre at Northwestern University. On April 18, 1953, she married Ernst Seeler.
They remained together in Evanston all their lives. Ann was involved with Montessori education and worked with the Playskool company on toy development. She retired as the Executive Secretary for Northwestern University. Ann enjoyed hosting special events and holiday parties for family and friends with her gracious style. She was the special "Auntie Annie" everyone should be lucky enough to have.
Caring for her parents, beloved Ernie and family, she handled with great strength and love. A special thanks to Marybeth, Oralia and Emilie for helping Ann through so much later in her life. There will be no public service but be assured Ann & Ernst will be reunited for a lakeshore swim in the near future.
