Rosemary Ann (Treacy) Eide
November 22, 1928 ~ November 17, 2025 96 Years Old
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved mom, who passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, five days before her 97th birthday
Rosemary Ann (Treacy) Eide was born the fourth of five children in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 22, 1928 to A.B. (Doc) and Alice (Klaus) Treacy, along with her twin brother, Jerry. In 1932, her family moved to South Bend, IN where she attended St. Matthew Cathedral School and graduated from Riley High School in 1946, where she was elected Prom Queen. She graduated cum laude from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN in 1950 with a degree in Spanish. She was employed at Bendix for two years. She met her husband, Paul, a Notre Dame student, at Sunday Mass at St. Patrick’s and they were later married in that same church on October 20, 1951. They began their married life in Des Moines, IA and in 1965 they moved to Fort Dodge, IA where they raised five children. In the ensuing years, she and Paul traveled the world by land and sea. They enjoyed a second home in Florida for 10 years and then built their retirement home in the Rockies, in Estes Park, CO, where they resided for 23 years. From there they spent many enjoyable sojourns exploring the Southwest including visiting the early Spanish missions. In 2012 they settled full-time in Fort Collins, CO. After her husband, Paul, passed away in July of 2022, Rosemary moved back to her childhood home of South Bend, IN
Rosemary had many interests including reading, traveling, and playing bridge. In the Fort Dodge years, Rosemary was involved with the service project Operation Christmas and she taught CCD classes. Rosemary participated in multiple bridge clubs and the Ingleside reading club. She enjoyed social events and was known for her great sense of humor. Rosemary was an excellent mom and an optimist with an even temperament that served her well. She was dearly loved and will be dearly missed.
Rosemary was preceded by her husband of nearly 71 years, Paul; parents, Doc and Alice; sister, Alice; and brothers, Jim and Jerry. She is survived by her children, Clark (Agnes) of Delray Beach, FL, Jed (Paula) of South Bend, IN, Nancy of South Bend, IN, Eric (Carol) of Ames, IA, and Matthew of West Des Moines, IA; brother, John Treacy; and 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate end of life care provided by Providence Home and Paradigm Hospice, and by all of Rosemary’s caregivers over the past several years.
In keeping with Rosemary's wishes, cremation will take place. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Rosemary will be laid to rest next to her loving husband at Corpus Christi Cemetery, Fort Dodge, Iowa. Palmer Funeral Homes-Welsheimer Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
