Ray W. Coahran
December 22, 1934 ~ February 25, 2024
Ray W. Coahran, "Top Hat", age 89, of Lakeview, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024.
Ray was born on Dec. 22, 1934, in Walkerton, Indiana, to the late Chester A. and Hazel (Teter) Coahran. He was a graduate of Riley High School in South Bend.
On Sept. 24, 1955, he married Joan Brand in South Bend, Indiana, and they lived 28 years in and around Dallas, Texas, before moving to Midway, Arkansas, to run Holiday Shores Resort.
Surviving are his children Randall Coahran and Gregg Coahran of Texas and Wendy (Coahran) Buck of Colorado. Ray is survived as well by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Sister's in Law, Sharon (Richards) Coahran, Joy (Brand) Peters and Tammy Brand.
He was preceded in death by his Wife Joan Coahran, Sister Donna (Coahran) Banning, Brother Forrest 'Dale' Coahran and Brother's-in-law Eugene Banning and Loren Brand.
One of his favorite activities was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and many people in the Mountain Home area knew him as "Top Hat" as he always wore a leather top hat. He was a member of ABATE (Arkansas Bikers for Awareness, Training and Education) and also a volunteer with the Patriot Guard Riders.
Ray was a Master Mason belonging to the Robert Burns Lodge #496 in Gainesville, Missouri. He was involved with Shriners International both in Dallas, Texas, and Mountain Home, Arkansas. Ray also transported many injured children from the Twin Lakes area to the Shrine Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Family and friends are invited to a service to be held at Robert Burns Lodge #496, 111 Second Street, Gainesville, MO 65655 on March 16, 2024, at 11 a.m. A light buffet lunch will follow the service.
