Deborah Haney, age 72, passed away on October 22, 2024 while residing at Miller's Merry Manor of Warsaw. She was born on May 13, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana to Frank and Irene (Hutchison) Kalka. She spent much of her adult life in Kosciusko County along with a few years in Florida. Deborah is remembered fondly as a hardworking and dedicated individual, who made her mark in the retail industry. Even in retirement, she could work circles around many.
A graduate of South Bend Riley High School, Deborah's career spanned various establishments. She is most notably remembered by her family, colleagues, and customers for the time she dedicated to Bed Bath and Beyond in Florida and Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was known for her unparalleled work ethic, reflecting her commitment to excellence and passion for her work.
Deborah was an outgoing personality, often likened to a social butterfly who rarely knew a stranger. Her approachable nature and warm demeanor drew people to her, and she was cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her sons, Andrew (Erin) Young and Jamie Scott, and her daughter, Debra Scott. She was a proud grandmother to Cole Young, Reid Young, and Sarah Scott, who brought immense joy to her life. Deborah shared a special bond with her twin brother, Craig (Julie) Kalka, and held her nieces and nephews, Justin Kalka and Sara Kalka, very close to her heart.
Deborah is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Irene Kalka, and her brothers, Jake and Matt Kalka. Those who knew her will carry her memory forward, cherishing the love and grace she brought into their lives. Her legacy will live on through the connections she forged and the lives she touched throughout her journey.
