Mary Alice Anderson (Perrin) - Class Of 1956 VIEW PROFILE

Mary Alice Anderson (Perrin)

Mary A. (Anderson) Perrin

May 28, 1937 - Dec. 22, 2005

Mary A. Perrin, 68, residing in South Bend, Ind., passed away of natural causes in her home. She was born May 28, 1 937, in South Bend to Cecil and Bertha (Buckmann) Anderson, and had remained a lifelong resident of South Bend. She graduated from Riley High School in 1956.

On June 15, 1957, she married Kenneth E. Perrin. Mary is survived by her husband of 48 years, Kenneth; a son, Donald and daughter-in-law, Jean Perrin of South Bend; three grandchildren: Daniel, Misty and Shane Perrin; and one sister, Ruth Gilleand of South Bend.

In the seventies and eighties, Mary and Kenneth were very active in the VFW Post 360 of Mishawaka, where she was an auxiliary member. Mary spent her life as a housewife and mother. She happily and willingly embraced many different roles along the way: caring wife, loving mother, sister, aunt and grandma. She excelled at all of these but her best role (the one that made her so good at the others) was Best Friend.

She was a natural caretaker, always there to lend a helping hand, a caring ear, a shoulder to cry on or, if asked for, a piece of sound advice. She also pursued many hobbies along the way. She collected coins, pins, buttons and Barbie dolls. She made Barbie clothes for several years and participated in many area craft shows. She also loved crossword puzzles and was an avid garage sale shopper.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 24, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN. Rev. Warren Kirkwood will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. A short memorial service will follow. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Perrin may be made to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637
