In Memory
Shirley Jean (Andrews) McLaughlin
July 19, 1938 ~ May 29, 2024
MCKINEY – Shirley J McLaughlin-Andrews passed away from cancer at her home in McKinney, Texas on May 29, 2024, surrounded by her family. She could not have picked a prettier day.
Shirley was born on July 19, 1938, in Dowagiac, Michigan to Joey and Marie Andrews Sr. She spent her childhood around the Sister Lakes and Indian Lake areas. She graduated from Riley High School in South Bend in 1956 and went on to graduate from Michigan State in 1960. She was always doing something, going somewhere, or meeting someone. She loved a good fight. She battled breast cancer in 1988 and won. She went on to start the first local chapter of the Susan B. Komen Foundation in South Bend Indiana.
Shirley and her husband of 42 years, Neil, lived in Indiana and together they lived in Utah, Colorado, and Texas. Each house was turned into a home by her interior decorating talents. Shirley loved dogs and always made sure her home included one. She will be sorely missed by her little buddy, Murphy.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her husband in 2022, her brothers Joey Jr and George, and a nephew William Klett. She is survived and will be missed by two sons Robert Rope and Scott Rope, a daughter Teri (Craig) Sena, two exceptional grandchildren Chloe and Cole Sena, a sister Donna Andrews, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She will also be missed by her longtime Indiana/Florida friend Joan and her special Texas friends Linda and Lindy. Instead of flowers, Shirley requests a donation be given in her name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or to the organization of your choice.
