Harold Joseph ‘Hal' Vargo

Harold Joseph "Hal" Vargo, 66, died Monday, May 31, 2004, at his residence in Greenwood.

He was born Oct. 16, 1937, in South Bend. His father was Joseph H. Vargo. His mother is Helen (Guyer) Vargo of Carmel. He married Mary Jo (Holt) Vargo in February 1995. She survives. Other survivors include a son, J Harold Vargo of Florida; a daughter, Jannice M. Neal of Carmel; and three grandchildren.

He was employed by Hillshire Farm and Kahns as a sales representative for 18 years, retiring in 2000. He was formerly employed by Dick & Co. and Redi-Froz.

He was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church, Calver Rod & Gun Club, American Legion Post 252, Beech Grove Masonic Lodge 694, and Indianapolis Chefs Association. He was president of Barrington Homeowners Association and Economic Development Commission of Greenwood.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

The Rev. Craig Tucker will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
