John T. Baumgartner

Services for John Thomas Baumgartner, 53, of Battle Creek, Mich., formerly of South Bend, who died Sunday in Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo, were held Wednesday at St. Andrew's Cathedral, Grand Rapids. Cremation has taken place. Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, handled arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Respite Center, 1530 E. Fulton St., Grand Rapids.

Mr. Baumgartner was employed by Mercy Health Care Corp., Grand Rapids, for 29 years. He was born Sept. 3, 1934, in South Bend and lived in Grand Rapids for 27 years and Battle Creek the last two years.

His wife, the former Janet Roose of Battle Creek, survives. Also surviving are six children; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Kathryn Skibbe of New Paris, June Baumgartner of Indianapolis and Sister Veronica Baumgartner C.S.J. of Tipton, Ind.; and four brothers, Fred of Camarillo, Calif., Charles L. of South Bend, James A. of Carmel, Ind., and Richard N. of Vandalia.

Mr. Baumgartner graduated from Riley High School and Michigan State University.
