John C. Lohman, 62, of South Bend, Ind., died Friday in his home of cancer. He was born June 30, 1934, in Kansas City, Mo. to Osbie and Gladys (McKelvey) Lohman, who preceded him in death. He lived as a young boy in Winona, Minn., and in Clinton, Iowa, finally settling in South Bend in 1944. A graduate of Missouri Military School, Mexico, Mo., Riley High School, and DeVrie Technical Institute, Mr. Lohman was self-employed as the owner of Lohman's Electronics of Niles, Mich., for over 40 years before retiring in 1995.

In December of 1954 he married the former Sandra N. Jefferies. She survives, as well as two daughters, Debby Blum and her husband, Randy, of South Bend, Terri Lohman of South Bend and her fiance Jerry Thomason of Culman, Ala..; a son, John G. Lohman and his wife, Wendy, of South Bend; a foster son, Jeffery Givens and his wife, Thuy, of Osceola, Ind.; six grandchildren, Marlena (Lani) Blum, Jonathon Lohman, Ryan Lohman and Hannah Lohman, all of South Bend, Rachel Givens of Osceola and Jason Givens of Granger, Ind.; and a brother, James A. Lohman of Cincinnati, Ohio. A foster sister, Joan Strohm of Connecticut, and a grandson, Thomas Givens, preceded him in death.

Mr. Lohman was an active member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of South Bend. An avid football enthusiast, he was the "Grandpa" Coach for the Pop Warner Football League's "Colts" team in 1995. In 1973, he was Cub Scout den leader for Webeloes Pack 364.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan St., South Bend
