Ramona Arline (Gibbs) Myers

December 15, 1928 - July 5, 2011

Ramona Arline Myers, 83, of Elkhart, passed away at 10:05 pm, Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in Miller's Merry Manor of Plymouth. She was born on December 15, 1928 in Edwardsburg, MI, the daughter of the late Frances Earl and Dessie L. (Lumbert) Gibbs. On August 1, 1948, she married Jesse V. Myers.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jesse, three daughters, Linda (Carlos) Romero of Elkhart, Kris (Paul) Troyer of Goshen and Shelley (Kirk) Carithers of Elkhart; five grandchildren, Myriam, Carlos, Jaime, Kirtina, and Chris, and 10 great grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, Emily, Natsuki, Takumi, Tatiana, Rayah, Austin, Nicholas, and Aiden. She is also survived by six siblings, Ruth McNaughton of South Bend, Russell Gibbs of Chicago, IL, Viola Henson of Hillsdale, MI, Beverly Van Harlingen of Elkhart, James Gibbs of Cassopolis, and Richard Gibbs of Coldwater, MI.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Betty Lou Bolding and four brothers, Marvin, Alvin, George, and Glenn Gibbs.

Ramona was a graduate of Riley High School and worked for the South Bend Community School Corporation as a head cook for over 30 years. She was also a member of the Lydick United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, arranged and provided the altar flowers, and worked in the nursery.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 pm, Friday, July 8, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

The family's preferred memorial is the Lydick United Methodist Church, 26510 Edison Road, South Bend, IN 46628.
