PARENTS GET SON'S MEDAL

Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Bowerman, 1125 Altgeld avenue, have received the Purple Heart medal posthumously awarded to their son, Second Lieut. James Duane Bowerman, who was killed in action over Italy Jan. 14.

He was awarded the medal "as tangible expression of the country's gratitude for his gallantry and devotion."

Lieut. Bowerman, 22, served as a pilot with the photo reconnaissance division and had completed 10 missions. He went overseas in September, 1944.

A 1941 graduate of Riley High school, he was employed by the aviation division of the Studebaker corporation before entering the Air Corps Feb. 19, 1943
