Willadene M. “Willie” Hartman Sossomen

Oct. 9, 1923 – June 10, 2006 South Bend, IN — Willadene M.“Willie”Sossomen, 82, of South Bend, passed away of natural causes at 9:00 a.m.on Saturday, June 10, 2006, in her home. Willadene was born on October 9, 1923, in South Bend, at her grandmother’s home, to the late Leo and Agnes (Sattler) Hartman.She has been a lifelong area resident. Willadene retired in 1981 after 30 years of employment with the Bendix Corporation.

She was a member of St.Jude Catholic Church, PNA #83 and UAW #9.Willadene was a graduate of Riley High School, and was an avid bowler for many years.

Willadene is survived by her two daughters, Anita Jenkins of Niles, MI, and Laura (Bud) Haff of South Bend; six grandchildren, Brenda (Ty) Lax, Carla Rose, Mike (Peggy) Rose, Vickie (Harley) Harrison, Todd Betty and Christine Sykes;14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles (Rosemary) Hartman of South Bend.

She will also be missed by her dear and longtime friend, John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m.on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in St.Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend.Rev.Derrick Sneyd will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. today, June 13th, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S.Michigan Street, South Bend. Contributions in memory of Willadene M.Sossomen may be made to the American Lung Association of Indiana, 9445 Delegates Row, Indianapolis, IN 46240-3805
