James Andrew Kollar

CASSOPOLIS - James A. Kollar, residing in Cassopolis, Michigan, and a former South Bend resident, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. He was 94 years old.
He was born August 18, 1923 in South Bend, IN, a son of the late Frank A. and Marie (Moore) Kollar, and lived in South Bend all of his life until moving to Diamond Lake in 1987.
On July 11, 1948 at the Maple Lane Church, South Bend, Jim was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mildred E. Vance. They have enjoyed 69 wonderful years together. Along with his wife Mildred, he is survived by his two daughters, SuEllen (Herb) Streich of Cave Creek, AZ and Janet M. Parr of Osceola, IN; three grandchildren, Bradley K. (Lynn) Streich, Darren K. Streich, and Christopher J. (Heather) Parr; and three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Sabrina, and Teddy Streich.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Bradshaw, and son-in-law, David Parr.
Mr. Kollar retired as supervisor in 1987 from Bendix Corporation, where he worked for 37 years. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member of the Cassopolis United Methodist Church, a member and Past Master in 1967 of St. Joseph Lodge #45, F & AM, South Bend; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, member and Past Worthy Patron of Order of Eastern Star #569, Bendix Square and Compass Club, Bendix Management Retirees Club, Diamond Lake Association, and the Michigan Lake & Stream Association.
A time of visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 pm. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where members of St. Joseph Lodge #45 will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service at 6:00 pm, followed by services at 6:15 pm led by Rev. Wade Panse and Rev. Erik Hutchison. A private committal service will be on Thursday. He will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
