Richard Clayton Taylor

NILES - Richard Taylor, 64, of 2006 Ontario Road, Lot 6, formerly of South Bend, died at 10:17 a.m. today at Pawating Hospital after an illness. Mr. Taylor retired as a captain from the South Bend Fire Department after 18 years' service.

He was born July 29, 1923, in South Bend, and lived in Niles for 14 years, coming from South Bend.

On Feb. 19, 1946, in South Bend, he married Mary J. Pfender, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Judy Geisel of Niles and Peggy Townsend of South Bend; three sons, Richard, David and Robert, all of South Bend; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360
