Rosemary (Wilson) Wilson

Jan. 4, 1924 - July 24, 2009

EAU CLAIRE - Rosemary Wilson was one of a kind. She was born in Nappanee, IN, to Mabel and Willis Wilson (both deceased) and left us at 85 in Eau Claire, MI, at her daughter's home.

She married Joel F. Wilson (deceased) on Thanksgiving Day 1947 and spent the next 58 years with him raising their three children, (Jerome K. Wilson-Myra Fugate of Louisville, KY, Robin Wilson-McKenzie-Ed of Eau Claire, MI, Kerry J. Wilson-Gloria of Elkhart, IN) and enjoying their six grandchildren (Tesse K. Rahal of Tulsa, OK, Roscoe L. Wilson-Cassie of Hamilton, OH, Kira E. Geier of Detroit, MI, Timothy R. Geier of Chicago, IL, Christopher J. Wilson and Ashley N. Wilson, both of Louisville, KY), and their great-grandchildren (Christian and Riley Rahal and Alayna Giacomini), along with many loved nieces and nephews.

In the 1960s, Rosemary and Joel lived in Bavaria, Germany, for four years, traveling and making many lifelong friends. Rosemary enjoyed embroidery and folk art painting, giving away much of her work as gifts. She and Joel loved to dance and gave great parties at their Diamond Lake home near Cassopolis, MI. As a nanny, she "adopted" two more grandchildren, Laura Schalliol of Granger and Nathan Coddens of South Bend. She loved babies and children, and couldn't give them enough love.

Rosemary grew up on Altgeld Street in South Bend with her two older brothers, Robert G. Wilson of LaCanada, CA, Richard A. Wilson (decease) (Wanda), and her sister, Ruth Leonhard-Earl of South Bend. She had a rich life and made everyone richer for knowing her. As she often said about her own mother, we say about her: "she was a gem and we were lucky to have her."

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29th, in Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, with services at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 30th, in Grace United Methodist Church on Twyckenham Drive, with interment at Southlawn Cemetery on US 31. A reception will follow. (Due to road construction on Cleveland Road, please enter the funeral home parking lot on Hickory Road, south of Brick Road.)
