Charles D. Colip

SOUTH BEND - Charles D. Colip, 78, of South Twyckenham Drive, died at 6:46 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Colip retired in 1976 as owner/operator of Colip Electric Co. He was born March 12, 1918, in South Bend.
On May 31, 1942, in Mishawaka, he married Jane Rohleder. She survives with a daughter, Charlane Lasmanis of Vienna, Va.; two sons, Dr. Charles L. of Portland, Ore., and Thomas E. of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Thompson and Geraldine Colip, both of South Bend.
He was a graduate of Purdue University, a member of the Tower Federal Savings & Loan board of directors, member of National Electrical Contractors Association and First United Methodist Church, was past president of South Bend Rotary Club, was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, and was past president and served on the board of the YMCA.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St.
