Virgina R. (Hardy) Bennett
May 10, 1915 - May 30, 1982
Virginia R. Bennett, 67, of 1741 Leer, died at 1:50 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital after a three month illness. Born on May 10, 1915, in South Bend, she had lived here her lifetime.
On May 13, 1939, in South Bend, she married Jack E. Bennett, who survives. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Ellen Hardy of South Bend; a daughter, Mrs. George (Sharon) Osmanski of Granger; two sons, Jack Jr. of LaPorte and Michael of Granger; eight grandchildren and a brother, Edward H. of South Bend.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Matthew Cathedral. Rt. Rev. Joseph Crowley, cathedral rector and auxiliary bishop of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Catholic Diocese, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Guisinger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Turners Ladies Auxiliary; the Altar and Rosary Society of the church; Post 303, American Legion, and the Ben Hur Club. She was a member and past president of the South Bend Power Squadron Auxiliary
