Florence E. Nordblad Emigh

February 17, 1918-December 20, 2014

Florence E. Emigh, 96, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully, Friday December 19, 2014 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte, IN. She was born February 17, 1918 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Gustaf Nordblad and Hulda (Bowman) Nordblad.

Florence was a member of the LaPorte Lion's Club. She had an extraordinary life as a loving family woman. Her home, built in 1938 was built by hand by her loving husband and has become a staple in LaPorte known as "Emigh Corner" for more than 76 years.

On July 2, 1938, in South Bend, IN, she married John E. Emigh who preceded her in death February 12, 2002.

She is survived by her loving daughter-in-law, Judy Emigh of La Porte, IN; two grandchildren, Tami (Kris) Barber of Rolling Prairie, IN, and John Emigh, Jr. of Detroit, MI; four great-grandchildren, Eric Barber of Rolling Prairie, IN; Brooke Barber of Rolling Prairie, IN, Matthew Emigh of Chicago, IL, and Sarah Emigh of Leesburg, IN.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Sandra K. Liffick, who passed away November 1989, son, John W. Emigh Sr., who passed away October 2003. two sisters, Geraldine Lawson, and Madeline Perschke.
