Lucille (Wagner) McKibbin
April 9, 1918 - March 24, 2001
Lucille Wagner-McKibbin, 82, residing on Longfellow Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away suddenly on Saturday morning, March 24 in Southfield Village, where she had been residing for the past two months. Mrs. McKibbin was born on April 9, 1918, in South Bend, as the daughter of Herman F. and Elizabeth (Bailey) Wagner, and had lived in this area most of her life.
On July 2, 1938, in South Bend, she was married to Frederick Raymond McKibbin, who passed away on Aug. 12, 1980.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond F. McKibbin in 1974, and by nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a son, Scott (Karen) McKibbin of South Bend; two grandchildren, Cynthia McKibbin of Richmond, Ind., and Andrea (Brad) Wilson of Cloverdale, Ind.; and by three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Steven and Kelsey Wilson, all of Cloverdale.
Lucille retired as a receptionist for May-Oberfell and Lorber Law Offices following 30 years of service.
She dearly loved her children, but cherished her grandchildren, and her eyes just sparkled whenever she saw her great-grandchildren.
She graduated in 1936 from James Whitcomb Riley High School, and served on the Riley High School Reunion Committee for many years.
Services for Lucille McKibbin will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. John von Lackum, pastor of Zion United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Mrs. McKibbin may be made, to Hanover College, Hanover, Ind.
