Marjorie Lou “Marge” (Edwards) Barden

Marjorie (Marge) Barden, 84, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009.

A visitation will be held from 3:30 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, at Westbrooke Church, 9898 95th St., Overland Park, 66212. A service will follow at 4:30 p.m. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Oaklawn Cemetery, 13901 Blackbob Rd., Olathe, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westbooke Church, designated to the Building Project.

Marge was born June 10, 1925, in South Bend, Ind., and had lived in Overland Park since 1960. She was a charter member of the Westbrooke Baptist Church. She was preceded in death her husband, George, in 1975, and by son-in-law, Steve Smith, in 1974.

Marge is survived by her two daughters, Janice (Ray) Chandler and Marcia (Bill) Schulz; a son, Gregg Barden; three grandchildren, Drake (Sarah) Larsen, Carly (Scott) Hughes and Chelsea (Jeff) Hargrove; one great grandson, Peyton Hughes; in-laws, Norma (Ray) Donzero, Wayne (Patty) Barden and Ralph Hass; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her Westbrooke Church family and her nurses and doctors at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
