Joan I. (Reinke) Matthews

SOUTH BEND Joan I. Matthews, 63, of 14751 Brick Road, Granger, died at 8:25 a.m. Friday in Memorial Hospital after an illness. She retired as a clerk from the former Fox Foto Corp.

Born Aug. 23, 1926, in South Bend, she was a lifetime resident.

On March 18, 1944, in Los Angeles, Calif, as Joan Reinke, she married Lloyd Matthews. He survives with two daughters, Sally J. Heise of Rolling Prairie and Kimberly Deethardt of Granger; a son, Lloyd Jr. of Granger; a sister, Ruth Schmeltz of Mishawaka; and two brothers, Gerald Reinke and Harold Reinke, both of South Bend.

Mrs. Matthews was a 40 year member of American Turners Ladies Auxiliary.

Services will be at.2 p.m. Monday in St. Peter's United Church of Christ. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and to 9 p.m. Sunday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
