Myrtle Olive (Bruner) Horner

Myrtle Olive Horner, 93, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Friday, Oct 16, 2009. She was born April 14, 1916 in Flat Top, Wy. Myrtle married Hubert Horner in 1949 and they had two children, Janet and Richard. The family moved to Punta Gorda in the 1970s from Michigan.

She was a member for many years of the Eastside Baptist Church. She was active in teaching G.As, Acteens and Mission Friends, where she became a grandmother to many children. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Myrtle is survived by her son, Richard (Freda) Horner; granddaughters, Rhonda (Scott) Birge, Kimberly (Michael) Flowers, Jackie (Bobby) Douglas, and Tracy (Billy) Horner; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hurbert I. Horner; and her daughter, Janet E. Sass.

The Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.
