Ross George Rishel

Rensselaer Word has been received here of the death of Ross George Rishel, 80, of Rensselaer, formerly of Columbus. He died at 10:03 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 1995, at Rensselaer Care Center. Mr. Rishel lived in Columbus from 1981 to 1991, when he moved to Rensselear.
He also lived in Plymouth and Bremen. He graduated in 1934 from South Bend Riley High School. He had been owner and operator of The Corner in Bremen for 20 years and managed the Miami Tasty Shop in South Bend for several years. He had worked for Studebaker in South Bend and was a member of the Iroquois Valley Christian Church in Rensselaer. Funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m.
Friday at Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer, with Paul Spickerman officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today. Entombment will be Friday at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus. Memorials may be made to the Iroquois Valley Christian Church in Rensselaer or Graceland College through the funeral home.
Mr. Rishel was born March 28, 1915, in Buchanan, Mich., the son of Vaughn and Hattie Best Rishel. He married Helen Roselean Hoffman May 21, 1939.
She died in February 1988. Surviving are a son, Michael Rishel of Rensselear; sisters, Dorothy Hice of Marshall, Mich., and Harriet Schrader of Petoskey, Mich.; a grandson, Evan Gilbert of Columbus; and two stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter.
