J. Mauritz Stenberg, 48, of 208 Sylvan Glen, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital after several years' illness. He was born in South Bend Aug. 13, 1914, and had lived his lifetime here.  

He married Hildur Nelson in East Chicago on Dec. 30, 1939.  Mr. Stenberg is survived by his widow; a son, Philip, and a daughter, Nancy, both at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arvid Stenberg, South Bend, and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Webster, South Bend, and Mrs. Hildegard Nelson Hobart.

Friends may call in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home until noon Thursday when the body will be taken to the Evangelical Covenant Church to lie in state until the time of services there at 1 p.m. Rev. David S. Noreen, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

He was president of the Craftsman Club, South Bend, and a member of the Rotary Club, Elkhart, and the Gideons International. He was secretary-treasurer of the Barger Box and Printing Co., Elkhart.
