Jack A. Rowe

Bremen, IN - Mr. Jack A. Rowe, 80, of 3rd Road, Bremen, Ind., formerly of Mishawaka, Ind., died of cancer at 10:15 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, in his residence. Jack was born on July 21, 1920, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Chester and Alta Mae (Baum) Rowe.
He was a World War II veteran serving in the U S Army Air Corps, and was a member of American Legion Posts #360 of Mishawaka and #1167 of South Bend. He worked 23 years for Studebaker's until they shut down, and then retired from the Hobbs Corporation in Spring Valley, Ill., after 27 years of service. He was a supervisor in the manufacturing plant. Jack loved umpiring softball and basketball during his younger years. After he retired, he loved to dance the polka.
Mr. Rowe was married on June 14, 1947, in South Bend, to Carol E. Bon Durant, who passed away on Sept. 1, 2000. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Houser and Carol Robertson; and by a brother, Carl Rowe.
He is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Dean) Kohler Webb of Bremen, Ind., and Marlene (Erique) Garcia of Logansport, Ind.; a son, Thomas E. (Marilyn) Rowe of LaSalle, Ill.; and by 10 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
Friends may call one hour prior to the combined memorial services for both Jack and Carol, which will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, in the McGANN FUNERAL HOMES, UNIVERSITY AREA CHAPEL, 2313 E. EDISON ROAD, NEAR IRONWOOD
