Delores M. (Utterback) Yates
February 8, 1930 ~ September 10, 2025
Delores Yates of South Bend passed away at the age of 95 and stepped into eternity on Wednesday September 10, 2025, to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on February 8, 1930, in Mishawaka, IN to Glen and Hildur (Peters) Utterback.
On January 16, 1949, she married Cecil Yates who passed away May 15, 2014.
She graduated from Riley High School in June 1948. She worked at St. Joseph Bank from 1947 to 1949 and later on as the Director for Calvary Temple Daycare, retiring in 1990. She loved Gospel music, helping monthly at Southgate food pantry, and loved her family. She taught Sunday School for many years at Southgate and Calvary Temple as well as leading prayer ministry.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Allen) Sikorski of South Bend and Elaine (Randy) Singleton of Plymouth as well as 2 sons, Jim (Kathy) Yates of Spring, TX and Gary (Lisa) Yates of South Bend.
Nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Delores will be held from 10am-12pm on Thursday September 18, 2025, at Southgate Church, 3717 S. Michigan St. South Bend. A funeral service will begin at 12pm at the church with burial to follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southgate Church kids and youth programs or to Caring Cove Hospice.
