Waneta M. (Hein) Walters
June 24. 1929-Jan. 9. 1993
SOUTH BEND — Waneta M. Walters, 63, of 3614 Whitcomb Ave., died of natural causes at 7:26 p.m. Saturday in her home. Mrs. Walters was employed by Erma She was born June 24, 1929, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.
She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Lukaszewski of Granger; two sons, David and Tom, both of South Bend; three grandchildren; two sisters, Luella "Lou" Johnsen of South Bend and Marcella Courter of Palmetto, Fla.; and a brother, Virgil Hein of South Bend.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Misha-waka. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.

Just an update from the information that was posted from “findagrave.com. It’s true that at the time of her death, her brother and all of her sisters were still alive. However, her brother Virgil Hein and her sister Luella Hein (Johnsen) have since passed. Her sister Marcella age 99 is still with us and living with her husband Bernard 101 years old. They live in Florida at the time of this post, June 19th 2024. All were graduates of Riley High School. Aunt Marcella & Uncle Virgil graduated the same year, 1943 and my Aunt Luella graduated in 1945. My mother Waneta graduated in 1948. She was the baby of the family and died first. I'm her son Tom.

It was very kind of you to update the post about your Mother. I graduated from Riley in 1954 and didn't know Waneta. my brother Jack Steffee was class of '49 and probably knew her but he has passed away also. I have wonderful memories of South Bend and Riley....good grief, 70 years have passed since my graduation....how did that happen?
