It is with great sadness that the family of Charles R. Williams, 94, of Mishawaka, IN. announces his passing on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in his residence after a sudden illness.
Charles was born in South Bend, IN., to the late Daniel Boone and Louisiana “Lucy” (Collins) Williams.
On May 25, 1952, Charles married Colette F. Neland. Colette survives along with two daughters: Cindy Williams and Gail (Craig), Anderson, six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Helen Williams, Danny Williams, Dorothy Hoke, Ralph Williams and Bob Williams.
Charles graduated from Riley High School in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 19, 1951, and was honorably discharged on September 24, 1953.
Charles first job was at a corner grocery store, then worked three and a half years at Studebakers, then A.M. General. He finally owned and operated with his wife Colette, Bresler’s 33 Flavors Ice Cream Shop in Scottsdale Mall and University Park Mall for 17 years. He loved owning his own business and had the most fun.
Charles could talk all day about anything, but his favorite topics were politics, business, and stories from the past. He loved his cold beer and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds feed. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and dance performances. His jokes, stories, and laugh will be missed the most.
Private family services will be held with entombment at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel is assisting the family.
