NILES - Gwen F. Augustine, 91, of Niles, MI, died of natural causes at 4:41 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN.
She was born on June 13, 1919, in Kokomo, IN, to the late Jessee and Stella Meeks.

She was also preceded in death by a brother.

Gwen had lived in Niles since 1988. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and casino gambling, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She worked at JC Penney, at a steel workers union, and had been a bookkeeper at Bowlers Country Club in South Bend.

In 1946, in Kokomo, she married Don Augustine, who survives. She is also survived by daughters, Cindy Augustine of South Bend and Christine (Rick) Guipe of Niles; grandchildren, David, John and Kathy; and a great-grandchild, Haley.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 8, 2010, at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, is handling arrangements.
