George Joseph Mumaw
George Joseph Mumaw , 85, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2005 in Greenbriar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bradenton, following an illness.
He was born September 15, 1919, in South Bend, Ind., to Ben and Tillie (Schaffer) Mumaw , who both preceded him in death.
Mr. Mumaw retired as a dispatcher from C and E Trucking after 33 years of service. He was a graduate of Riley High School in 1937. George was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and also loved the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Devil Rays. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army with the ninth infantry Europe and was a member of the American Legion.
On June 7, 1941, he married the former Paulyne Duis. She survives with six children: Sandy (Ray) Heilman and Paula (Arnold) Mann, both of South Bend, Christine Mumaw of Bradenton, Fla., Patricia J. Elliot of Vancouver, British Columbia, Thomas E. Mumaw of Bradenton and Jerry (Beth) Mumaw of Niles, Michigan. Eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Edward (Bernice) Mumaw of Niles, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Mumaw .
Funeral services will be held at the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Friends will be received from 4 until the time of the services at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
