Philip A. Phillips, 83, of 2741 N. Salisbury St., WL, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, in Westminster Village Pavilion. Born in South Bend on Oct. 5, 1919, he graduated from Purdue University . in 1942 and moved to West Lafayette in 1988.
He married Frances C. Mellon in West Lafayette on Oct. 14, 1945, and she survives.
Mr. Phillips was a registered professional engineer in Illinois and Nebraska. He was a chemical engineer at Lauhoff Grain Co., a division of Bunge Corp., in Danville, Illinois, for 38 years.
Mr. Phillips was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Kiwanis Club, both in Lafayette, and he had been active in Boy Scout work in Danville. He served in the Army Air Corps in Nome, Alaska, as an air traffic control officer during World War II.
Surviving with his wife are four children, Catharine P. Stewart (husband: Daniel) of Yorktown; Margaret P. Titus of Manilla, George C. Phillips of Raleigh, N.C., and John G. Phillips (wife: Susan Schnerre) of West Lafayette
