John F. Bodnar

John F. Bodnar, of South Bend, passed away peacefully just after midnight on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the age of 94.
John was born on October 20, 1931, in South Bend, to the late John and Theresa (Szokolich) Bodnar. He remained a lifetime resident to the South Bend area. After high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Once completing his service and receiving honorable discharge, he went on to college and obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in education.
John leaves behind a son, John F. (Debbie) Bodnar, Jr. of California, and his good friend, Joe Kuzmits, of South Bend.
A special thank you to the staff at Trailpoint Village and Real Services, for the kindness, compassion, and excellent care they gave John over the last several years.
It was John’s wishes to be cremated. A memorial service will be announced in the Spring. To honor John’s life, memorial contributions may be made to Donor’s choice.
The staff at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home assisted with final arrangements and extends our deepest sympathy to all who knew John.
