Edward Devon Bradford
March 2, 1971 ~ November 25, 2024
It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Edward Devon Bradford, affectionately known as Devon, on November 25, 2024, at the age of 53.
Born in South Bend, Indiana, on March 2, 1971, to Edward Bradford Jr. and the late Mary (Dean) Bradford, Edward was a man whose light brightened the lives of all who knew him. A loving, charismatic, and generous soul, his boundless humor and zest for life brought immeasurable joy to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing his path. Edward’s professional journey reflected his hardworking and compassionate spirit. Most recently, he worked as a transporter in the home healthcare sector, where he approached every day with dedication and care, serving others with genuine compassion.
Before this, he spent over 20 years in the manufacturing industry, with the last decade of his career at the Precision Processes Division of Hiler Industries, where his leadership, diligence, and expertise left a lasting impact. Beyond his career, Edward’s passions were as diverse as they were engaging. A man of immense creativity, he delighted in building and racing RC cars, collecting diecast cars, designing graphic t-shirts, and crafting architectural drawings and model houses. His artistic talent was matched only by his adventurous spirit, whether traveling, competing as a skilled PlayStation player, or pursuing physical fitness as a member of Beacon Health and Fitness/YMCA. Edward’s commitment to health and well-being was a testament to his determination and drive. Edward’s deep faith in God was a source of strength and purpose.
He dedicated countless hours to studying the Bible and lived by the teachings that guided his life. As 1 Corinthians 13:13 says, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Edward embodied this spirit, offering unwavering love and support to his family and those fortunate enough to call him a friend. Edward’s greatest joy was his family, and his love for them was limitless.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 24 years, Jerwanda (Campbell) Bradford, whom he married on August 5, 2000. He is also survived by his father, Edward Bradford Jr. (Lynn) of Arizona; siblings ShaVon Ingram of Texas, Kamille Fields of Arizona, and Kenny (Erica) Jordan of Michigan; and nephew TyVon Gooden of Texas. He will be deeply missed by his aunts, Bessie Page, Brenda Sanders, and Delores Herron of South Bend, as well as uncles John Dean and Archie Bradford of South Bend and Robert (Linda) Bradford of Michigan. His cousins, especially Eugenia Page, whom he cherished as a big sister, and Lynn Dean, lovingly called his “P.B.,” held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mae and Charles Staggers of South Bend, along with sisters-in-law Justice Staggers of Indianapolis and Denika Staggers of South Bend, and a host of extended family and cherished friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Bradford; grandparents Ellie Dean, Magnolia and Huephert Jones, Edward Bradford Sr., and Helen Bradford; as well as his aunts Frankie (Gunn) Pegues, Nani Fisher, and Magdalene Dean, and his uncle Ellis Dean.
A celebration of Edward’s extraordinary life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM EST, at Alford's Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana. This gathering will honor a life filled with love, creativity, and service as we come together to remember the joy and light Edward brought to all of us.
