Norma J. (Denney) Hopkins

Norma Jean (Denney) Hopkins, 69, of Portage, Ind., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, May 21, in Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, Ind. She was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Fithian, Ill., and had lived in Portage for the past 30 years after coming from South Bend.

Norma was a 1950 graduate of Riley High School, South Bend, worked for Indiana Bell Telephone, and as an office manager for Associated Pediatricians in Portage. Norma is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert L. Hopkins; her daughter, Holly of Porter; her daughter and son-inlaw, Melinda and Jeff Sherry of Naperville, Ill.; and by her grandchildren, Brian and Blair Sherry.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill, and by her mother, Faris Starkloff.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 24, in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, 574/289-1000, with Father Charles E. Doyle officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Friends may call from noon until time of services in the funeral home.
