In Memory
Travis Michael Bird, Sr.
February 7, 1984 ~ September 24, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Travis Michael Bird, age 41, on September 24, 2025.
Born and raised in South Bend, he was the beloved son of Michael and Margarett (Wilburn) Bird. Travis was a proud father to his four children: Trinity, Travis Jr., Tate, and Teuvo, who he shared with their mother, Beth Bird. Travis is survived by his loving parents, his cherished children, and his beloved sister, Amy Bird. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Taylor Steigmeyer, Tanner Steigmeyer, Alexa Selimovic, Sean Bird, Derek Fisher, and Sophia Gordon. Travis has many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
Travis was preceded in death by his older brother, Patrick Sean Bird, whose memory remained close to Travis’s heart.
Travis attended Riley High School and later continued his education at Davenport University. From a young age, he grew up around the South Bend Motor Speedway, where the racetrack quickly became a second home. That passion for the track stayed with him throughout his life, fueling countless memories and connections.
Being a father was his greatest joy, and he poured his heart into their lives—whether it was supporting them, sharing his passions, or simply spending time together.
Travis enjoyed life outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and the thrill of the hockey rink. He also loved coaching Little League baseball, passing along lessons of teamwork and perseverance to the next generation.
His career reflected his strong work ethic and generous heart. Travis spent many years in the RV industry, but he found especially meaningful purpose in his work “boots on the ground” for a restoration company contracted through FEMA, where he helped families and communities in their times of greatest need.
Known affectionately to his friends as “T-Bird”, Travis will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, big heart, his humor, and deep loyalty to his family and friends. His children, family, and friends will miss him deeply, but his legacy will continue in the lives he touched.
A celebration of life will be held on October 10th, where family and friends will gather to share memories and honor the man who meant so much to so many on October 10th, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the B-K Club, 721 S West St, Mishawaka.
