In Memory
Amanda Susana Leal
March 27, 1984 - December 1, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Amanda Susana Leal, who departed this life far too soon at the age of 40 after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Amanda was a beloved daughter, sister, partner, and friend to many. Her journey ended on December 1, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of laughter, friendliness, and general lovability. To know her was to love her, but even moreso, to know her was to be loved by her.
Amanda was born in South Bend, Indiana on March 27, 1984 to Sheila (Kirk) Leal and Benancio “Ben” Leal, Jr. She joined three older siblings from Ben’s first marriage: Brenda (Dale) Conaway, Freddie (Stacie) Leal, and John Brian “JB” (Provedence) Leal, later to be joined by the youngest and Sheila’s second child: Samantha Leal.
Amanda loved music and going to shows growing up, and was a huge supporter of local bands and musicians. She had an eye for art and photography, which she picked up as a student at Riley High School, and did brief stints at Ball State and IUSB to study those before holding positions at places like Sephora, Liberty Mutual, The Horton Group, and Creative Products Group.
She loved doing full glam looks and even moonlighted as a makeup artist during her time at Sephora and beyond. She laughed heartily, danced often, and was a leading steering wheel drummer. She was so funny, often quiet at first before she shined through. She was time and time again described as a “pure soul” or the “best person you’d ever meet.” She made everyone feel special. She will be missed terribly.
She joins her father, Ben, who passed just nine months before her. She is survived by her mother, Sheila; siblings Brenda, Freddie, JB, and Sam; her partner and the love of her life, Jacob Parmelee; his daughter, Tinley Parmelee; his parents, Carol and Scott Parmelee; her stepdaughters from a previous marriage, Kayla and Rayna Vasquez; and other cherished loved ones including aunts, uncles, and cousins. As an organ donor, Amanda’s legacy will also live on in the lives she will save. She will be forever loved, remembered, and cherished by all who knew her. Though her time with us was short, her impact will be felt forever.
Visitation will be held 4 - 6 p.m. on Thursday December 12, followed by a funeral at 6 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, located at 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, Indiana 46561.
