Charla Ewing-Johnson Obituary

Charla Denise Ewing-Johnson, 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 10th at Memorial Hospital. Charla was born on December 29, 1956 to the late William F. and Ora Lee (Plump) Ewing.

Charla was a life-long Michiana resident, born in South Bend and graduating from Riley High School. After spending several years at a local university, Charla obtained a position as a machine operator at Accuride, where she was faithfully employed for many years. Charla was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church and loved to spend time with her friends and loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Charla is survived by her loving sons, Antonio (Tonya) Ewing Sr. of South Bend and Steven Parker of South Bend; three grandchildren: Antonio Ewing Jr., Tiara Ewing and Antonio Ewing III; ten siblings: Cathy Rogers, Uronda Flowers, Patti Ann Ewing, Pamela Young, Angienette Ewing, Dennis Plump, Freddie Ricky Ewing, William Ewing, Maurice Plump and Ronnie Ewing, all of South Bend. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Charla was preceded in death by her parents.

Services for Charla will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 12:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 116 Birdsell Street, South Bend. Pastor H. Gregory Haygood and Rev. Dennis Plump will officiate. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to service at the church. Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
