Christopher H. Ewing

February 28, 1958 ~ May 7, 2026

Christopher H. Ewing, 68, a lifelong resident of South Bend passed away on Thursday May 7, 2026, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

Born on February 28, 1958 in South Bend to the late Carl and Jean (Reed) Ewing.

From an early age Chris was a lover of sports. He enjoyed neighborhood games with friends and siblings. He had fond memories of summers on Diamond Lake, family parties ,and  euchre games accompanied  with stories and jokes.                       

After graduating from Riley High School, he attended Vincennes University, earning a degree in broadcasting. He combined his wit and commentary into a short sports broadcasting career. He married and had a son, Andrew. He enjoyed car sales working at several local dealers. His close friends and work associates, were like family to him. Sales was a perfect fit for his outgoing personality. His love of sports continued as he followed several teams. His favorites being Green Bay Packers. Chicago Bulls, Notre Dame football and many others. Horse racing took priority, while watching with a good cigar, steak, and a glass of wine.  Chris had many talents, but cooking was a challenge. Most dinners were at Doc Pierce`s. There he met and formed new friendships. He loved to eat, and we teased him about being the first in line at family gatherings, and the last to take a “carry out.” We will miss his humor, warmth, and passion.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Amy and Joel Ewing.

Chris is survived by his siblings, Paul (Liz) Ewing, Kim (Jim) Thompson Raymond (Kimberly) Ewing Tiffany (Daniel) Hotchin, a son Andrew nieces and nephews Parker Thompson, Jr., Emily Thompson, Scott (Jody) Ewing, Carie Ewing, Collin Ewing. Great-nephew Scottie Ewing, great-great-niece and nephew Kensli and Cory.

Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is honored to be caring for the family at this time. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
