In Memory

Paul M. Saros
October 24, 1958 - June 12, 2026
Paul M. Saros, 67, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026. He was born on October 24, 1958, in South Bend, Indiana, to Paul and Martha Saros.
He graduated from South Bend Riley High School in 1977.
Paul was a man who never did anything halfway. While he never shied away from a spirited debate, those who knew him best understood that behind his strong opinions was a caring and generous heart. Family always came first for Paul, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for the people he loved.
Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police officer and was a member of the prestigious 82nd Airborne Division. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to law enforcement as a county police officer. During his years of service, he worked in the SWAT and Narcotics units and later served in the Warrants Division. He approached his work with determination, courage, and a deep commitment to protecting and serving his community.
In addition to his police work, Paul ventured into business ownership, beginning with O.B.’s Inn and transitioning into the Press Box Bar and Grill. He also was the proud proprietor of Big M Sports. Through these ventures he was able to touch the lives of many.
He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and cherishing every moment spent with them. Grandson Jack's favorite memory with Papa was playing endless games of Slap Jack, while grandson Gio loved sharing candy and special treats with him.
Paul was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Frances Saros, and a proud father to his son, Paul Saros, and daughter-in-law, Victoria, and to his daughter, Jacqueline Speicher, and son-in-law, Evan Speicher. He was a cherished brother to Daniel Saros and Michael (Barbara) Saros. Paul was a loving grandfather to Jack and Gio, with another grandchild eagerly anticipated. Paul is also survived by his Father, Paul Saros, and leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Saros; his twin sons, Joseph and Jeno Saros; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joan and Jack Grittani; his brother-in-law, Jack Grittani Jr.; and his sister-in-law, Janice Saros.
Paul never met a stranger he couldn’t strike up a lively conversation with. His friendly personality and love of conversation made him the life of many gatherings. He enjoyed playing and coaching softball, socializing, attending parties, and connecting with friends both old and new. Whether someone needed help during the day or in the middle of the night, Paul was always willing to lend a hand.
Paul was a devoted sports fan, but in a surprising turn that friends and family never saw coming, he managed to switch his allegiance from the White Sox to the Cubs. A change that provided plenty of good-natured conversation and teasing over the years.
Above all else, Paul will be remembered for his love of family, his unwavering loyalty, his sense of humor, and his ability to tease those he cared about most. Though he will be deeply missed, the countless memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
A visitation for Paul will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 3:30 – 7:30 PM, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th Street, Mishawaka.
