Andre Strong

November 30, 1957 ~ July 11, 2025

With heavy hearts and abiding faith, we announce the passing of Andre Strong, who was called to his eternal rest on July 12, 2025, at the age of 67. Born in South Bend, Indiana, on November 30, 1957, to Eva Mae Strong (preceded him in death) and Dr. Verley Gene Sangster (November 20, 1933-July 29, 2025; wife-Pearline), Andre was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched countless lives with his kindness, humor, and unwavering resilience.

Andre was raised in South Bend, where he attended Oliver Elementary School and graduated from Riley High School. As a youth, Andre shone brightly, competing in basketball, football, and track. After high school, Andre entered the United States Army and became a proud veteran. Later in life, Andre made St. Paul, Minnesota, his home where he grew in his faith and love for God. He also enjoyed cooking and was proud of his Chef job at the University of Minnesota.

Andre leaves behind a legacy deeply rooted in faith and family.  He is the father of Mrs. Andrea Strong-Aranisola (husband Ismaheel) of South Bend, IN, and their children: Tyesha Love, Frederick Dotson Jr., Precious Dotson, Christopher Broadnax Jr., Enricque Broadnax, Tahleb Broadnax, Andrea Dupree, and Joshua Dupree.  Andre Harris (father to Ja’Kyi Harris and Javon Harris), Aaron Jones (married to Artavia, with children Ayranae and Aahliyah, of McDonough, GA), Adrian Strong (married to India), Ashley Davis of South Bend (mother to Memorhi Frazier and Ryleigh Jacobs), and Asia Strong and Dre’Yana O’Neil. Andre also has 13 great grandchildren, as well as a host of cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Andre’s siblings include Donna Gary, Rochelle Williams (husband Roy), Lamar Strong (wife Pamela), Charles Renell Nailon (wife Janice), Darryl Sangster (wife Pamela), Kenny Anderson, Dimitri Sangster (wife Monica), Jermette Bishop Harris, Scott Sangster (wife Nita), and Vermella Star Sangster.

He is preceded in death by his siblings Daryl Reid, Denise Strong-Jones, Michael Barton, and Anthony Sangster (wife Pattie). As we celebrate Andre’s life, let us do so with the assurance that, though we mourn, we do not mourn as those without hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14). Let us rejoice that he is now at eternal peace in the loving arms of his Savior, reunited with those who went before him, awaiting the glorious resurrection promise to all who believe.
