Ronnie Ligon, 70, of South Bend, passed away May 9, 2025. Born September 27, 1954, to Izear and Jerlean Ligon, Ronnie graduated from Riley High School in 1974 and attended Indiana State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Ernestine Scott, on August 23, 1980, building a life filled with love and laughter with their children, Nicole and Ryan Ligon. His devotion to his family was unwavering and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family and friends brought a great deal of happiness to Ronnie.

Retiring from Ivy Tech after 35 years, Ronnie was a devoted member of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church where his service was a true reflection of his deeply rooted faith and commitment to God and the community.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ernestine Ligon, children Nicole (William) Crisp and Ryan Ligon, grandchildren Hailey and Avery Crisp, Paxton and Noelle Ligon, and siblings Eddie Cole Jr., Albert Surrell Ligon, Esker (Doris) Ligon, Dollie Maria Ross, and Wendel "Roddy" Harmon (brother in-law) and cherished friends Leon Groves, Carl McFadden, Walter Alexander, and Kenneth Freeman Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Josie Harmon and Johnnie James Fair, and in-laws William Harvey and Josephine Scott.

Visitation will be 6:00 -8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2025 with visitation one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. at Greater Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.
