Ross Emerson Carpenter, 66, of Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of South Bend, died Wednesday at home after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was a pharmacist. Born on Nov. 4, 1914, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, he had lived in South Bend for 20 years before, moving to Indianapolis.
His wife, LaVerne, survives, along with two sons, Kim of Fort Collins and Ric of Oregon: three grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Kathleen Carpenter of Buchanan, Mich., and Mrs. Gladys Byrne of Aptos, Calif.: and three brothers, Fred of Osceola, and Reg and Don, both of South Bend.
He is being cremated. Memorial services will be in South Bend at a later date.
