Norma (Donathen) Hruska
June 17, 1914 - Sept. 10, 2005 Norma (Donathen) Hruska, 91 , was born in South Bend to Ella (Hoose) and Norman Donathen. On October 8, 1938, in South Bend, she married Charles Stanley Hruska, her husband of 59 years, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Tyris Pisel, and a brother, Logan P. Donathen.
She is survived by two sons, Roy A. (Peggy) Hruska of South Bend and Charles Norman (Cindy) Hruska of Edwardsburg, Michigan. Grandchildren are Nicola Hruska of Niles, Michigan, Elliesha (Eli) DeLeon of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Philip Hruska of South Bend and Sarah Hruska of Mishawaka; and two great-grandchildren, Robyn Hruska and Ayra DeLeon.
She graduated from Riley High School. After raising her family she attended Ivy Tech State College where she acquired a degree in medical transcription. She was in the first graduating class in medical transcription from Ivy Tech, South Bend. She was employed by the South Bend Clinic and Pease Tool and Die. Norma was a member of the Eastern Star and a longtime member of the Phi Beta Psi Sorority. Norma was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend. She enjoyed reading her Bible and was loved for her quiet and gentle spirit, her contagious smile and positive attitude toward life.
She especially enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, and being with her grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 18, in the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend, 333 W. Colfax Ave. The family may be greeted between 3 and 4 p.m. A. memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Rescue Mission or to the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend
