Lieut. Robert J. Simonds

Lieut. Simonds, son of Mrs. H. D. Simonds, 1338 Belmont avenue, was killed in a training accident Monday, at Fort Benning, Ga., where he was an instructor in a tank division.

The 24-year-old officer, a graduate of Riley High school, had been in service for three and one-half years. Previously he had attended Purdue university at, West Lafayette, Ind., and the University of Notre Dame, He was married last November to Hazel M. Britton, of Austin, Texas. Surviving, in addition to his widow and his mother, is brother, S/Sergt. Richard Simonds, who is in France.

Burial will be in Austin following services in that city Thursday at 3 p. m.
